Not My Responsibility?

This week we see a survey among 1000 employees by security company PhishMe come up with the understanding that many employees think information security is not their responsibility while at work. They lean on the technology the IS dept. provides.

Also - employees feel that their role is not significant enough to be of interest to potential hackers. Just like our character Ellie (pictured right) who says "why would anyone steal MY password - it's not like I DO anything important".

This article from Infosec Magazine has the whole story.

What do you think? Do employees feel exempt when at work? And what can we do to make sure they understand that it IS their job to keep data safe.
